Ohhhhh.... damn it! I didn't want to reply but..... I can't resist ANOTHER chance to laugh at you:-
Go on then.... explain EXACTLY what you meant when you said.....
"yup, normal practice to go for closer ratios for faster acceration but that only happens for a short period"
err.........
"that only happens for a short period....."
Errm..... are you suggesting that you only get better acceleration and worse fuel consumption for a 'short period'?
Or were you possibly trying to suggest that the close ratio somehow 'grows up' into a 'wide ratio' gearbox over time....?
The TEXT says that the 'better acceleration' '... only happens for a short period'......
Is it that it changes DURING a single blast of acceleration or that the better acceleration 'decays' over weeks and months as the gearbox GETS TIRED......?????
This answer I am keen to hear.....
You are SUCH a joke, Paul! Just try THINKING before you post and you'll AVOID being laughed at quite so often!
Still... it makes my day to get yet ANOTHER chance to thrash you, publicly!
I worry about your 'proclivities' sometimes. I think it's classed as 'S&M', especially the 'M' part but I think you'd be more at home in M&S!
Remember... this time....THINK BEFORE YOU POST!
