Well, as for effort, I think a few thousand fans who made the gruelling and expensive trip to South Africa might very well disagree with you.

As for managers, yes I agree, the only two I can possibly see are Hodgson and Redknapp.......both in their 60`s and hardly choices for the longer term.

Let`s face it, English football is a real mess, with not much coming through after the latest crop of `superstars` have finished.

At club level, home grown talent has been neglected for years by the `quick fix` of signing foreign players.

It has been coming for the last 12 years at least, and whilst the Premier League will continue to thrive and be the best league in Europe, the international side will continue to suffer........indeed, it may never recover from this.
