Karting happens throughout the world. It happens 52 weeks a year and VASTLY more people drive karts than race in the TTs. The TT is effectively a SINGLE meeting lasting between 1 and 2 weeks
As you said, we have lost 5 in recent years (I can't think of them but I won't argue on that point) from HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of kart racers over literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of karting events.
Thus the probability of death at ANY karting event is STAGGERINGLY low.
Whereas, at the TT....... it's a CERTAINTY!
Can you name a me a SINGLE karting event where competitors can be ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN (from past history) that someone is GOING TO DIE!
It's down to being able to assess risk, RATIONALLY......
So, asses the risk, yourself.....if you thought YOUR customers/friends/children/children-of-friends were entering a race meeting where you KNEW someone was going to die...... would you REALLY want to be a spectator........?
Being honest.... if there was EVER a karting event with such an UTTERLY SH*T reputation for deaths at the rate of the TT..... then I WOULD F***ing well BAN it! .........INSTANTLY!
..... and so would YOU! You'd NEVER let YOUR kid enter such a race.....
