Getting somewhere at last :)

This could be tedious but there really is no other way other than checking them one by one now.
Start up normal IE, and then go to your 'command bar' (has the home & print icons plus others on) and click on the 'tools' drop down and then 'manage addons'

You should now see a list of loaded addons and extensions, start at the top and if an addon or extension is reporting as enabled, then right click and select disable from the popup menu (if it reports as disabled then that shouldn't be causing the issue).

Work your way down the list until all that were enabled become disabled (you may want to make a note of those you disable).

Shut down IE, start it up again and go back into the manage addons dialogue, go to the first one on your list and re-enable it, now try the chat section of this site again - if it works it's not that one, so go back into manage addons and -re-enable the next one on your list and try again on the chat section, keep going until you find the addons or extension that causes IE to crash.
