So there is no confusion here, I am using the following two examples as being STUNNINGLY crass in the same manner as Bernie's comments.
1) "Harold Shipman was a good bloke because he freed up local housing for younger people."
2) "The extermination of the Jews in Poland was a great benefit to freeing-up 'new building land' in Warsaw."
If those two comments were made as GENUINE examples of 'good things', then I suspect each and every one of us would say the writer/speaker was a CRETIN!
I think Bernie's recent comments ('Hitler and Saddam Hussein were good because they efficiently got things done', 'Senna's death had a good side') have been on a par with my horrific two examples! That places Bernie in the 'CRETIN' camp for me!
All 4 statements are 'true' to the same 'degree' but NONE of them should be put forward as GENUINELY 'good things'. The degree of anguish caused by someone saying and MEANING any of the 4 is UTTERLY beyond-the-pale!
Bernie: go and have a long retirement; it's time! You an Max DESERVE each other!
