Literally just saw this on the F1 website. I can't believe they've actually approved this. I think the points system which has been used the past few seasons makes the most sense but this is just going to kill the competition dead. As someone's already said, drivers are going to lose all willingness to driver for a position other than first if they're not in contention for the victory. As far as I'm concerned the driver who finishes on top at the end of the season is the one who deserves to be there whether they've had one win or ten (I accept there is always an exception). Consistency is the name of the game. I also think it's unfair as it is a way of punishing a driver who might be in a winning position but suffers some kind of mechanical failure. I find it crazy that we could be faced with the situation where the driver with the most points at the end of the season potentially doesn't end up winning the championship.
