Two or three years ago things got a little daft at Teesside when you needed SP level performance just to be in the top half of the grid - a lot of the regular drivers stopped turning up. Last year I noticed a big change to those competing - in general, those with the SP engines moved to the 200s and lots of owner drivers who would normally just turn up for practice days with older chassis and standard 160 engines started to race.
It means there is a wide spread of laptimes out there but most drivers still have similar paced competitors to race against. If you're doing 51 second laptimes, who cares - you're still racing!
As you're based in Leeds, also keep an eye on what is happening at Tockwith. Dave Wilson who used to run the Teesside Sprint series has handed that over to Kat & Paul Franklin and Bobby Hutchinson and is now running the Tockwith circuit.
