You could buy something for around £700 but you would most probably be in the midfield or near the back for most of your races because if you wan't to be a front runner the engines would cost between £800-£1000 for a good pair and £1000 plus for blueprint engines.
So you have to look at this realisticlly, are you just racing for fun or are you looking to be a front runner and be up there in the top 5 ?
I had a loook on ebay and found this pro kart, something like this kart would be a good starter

but if you are looking to be up there with the front runners the chassis to have is either a MS kart or a 7 kart with a good pair of engines.
