Consider another concept.
Two things might have the same 'height'. A tall buiding and a LONG rolling hill. If all it is that you measure is the PEAK, then a tall thin tower is as high as BIG hill.
That's the same with Dyno readings if you JUST quote the 'peak'.
However, imagine two engine with diffrerent dyno power CURVES. The first one starts developing power from 2000 rrpm giving starting at about 50% of max power and smoothly curving up to peak of 5.5bhp and tailing off slowly towards max revs. The second engine gives only 5% of max power from 2000 all the way up to 4500 when it LEAPS to 5.5bhp but then drops back to 5% max at 5001 rpm.
Both of those engines can ACCURATELY be described as giving 5.5bhp...... which one would you prefer to use in a RACE.....?
Look at the total AREA under a 'power curve' TOGETHER with the PEAK when judging a motor!
