Hi guys,
I am fairly new to pro karting, myself and a friend recently purchased a second hand pro kart which we intend race at Three Sisters monthly endurance events.
We tested our kart last week on a very warm day at Three Sisters where the track was perfectly dry. The kart seems to be running well even though we haven’t been able to change our gearing just yet to the recommended 22t-66t for Three Sisters.
However, the kart seems to be struggling for rear end grip and is back end happy around most of the corners. The current gearing may be contributing to this (20t-69t).
Some ideas I need to try are:-
- Changing the engine positions - Moving the rear hubs out/in - Changing the toe out/in - Bringing the front wheels in
We are currently on Bridgestones as this is what cam with the kart, but I would assume they would give more grip than the cheng shin tyres.
Any advice on improving rear grip would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Mark
