I hear what you are saying RE engines but I disagree that is always the case. For a start, at Clay we run to the TKM MSA engine spec rules, and have an eligibility scrut on site to check - so not really a chance of a bandit engine to come into play. I can't speak for other tracks, but Clay has cracked down on that in IKR from the outset.
And to be honest, the point I was making is MSA doesn't HAVE to be more expensive! Look again at how TKM used to be! Brand new chassis were not allowed to be more than around 1.5K! Tyres lasted forever, and could easily run at the front of club meetings with tyres that had done a couple of meetings. I don't subscribe to MSA always being more expensive than IKR - yes absolutely it is, but it doesn't have to be, and it shouldn't be for a budget class.
