In a strange kind of way, the best thing that can happen for TKM now is for the CIK chassis to be quicker. If it turns out the old TKM chassis are quicker our chassis costs will have been increased for no good reason, since I can't see manufacturers sticking to the old maximum retail price.
If the tyres don't change much the TKM style chassis should be quicker, but will manufacturers continue to produce them? Will manufacturers sell the CIK chassis at a reduced cost for TKM (no bars, no third bearing, no caster/camber therefore £100 or so cheaper)? Tal-Ko should be particularly interested in monitoring who leaves the class and who joins the class and on which equipment. Those who don't have access to a CIK chassis are going to need some pretty conclusive guidance as to which is quicker before committing to next year.
Regarding tyres, they've worded the release in such a way that it sounds like the change is only because of new EU regs. So long as they're not sticky it should be fine, although I reckon they'll have made them 0.5s quicker or so.
Regarding the restrictors, hopefully they've got the balance right. If they have, I'd take the lower weight and run with the restrictor.
