Many years ago I saw Tony Mullens pull over on his warm up lap whilst on pole and keeled over. Apparantly at the time he was waiting for surgery for a open heart condition at Kimbolton.
His team mates and friends were screaming to get his medication as it happened.
Unfortunatly Tony died as a result in front of one of the biggest meetings held at kim. In front of his friends, family and young son.
I believe that the organisers were not aware of his condition, but his friends and family were. They still allowed him to race, knowing his condition.
If I was in Tony's position or another one where my life was in jepody, then I would appereciate friends and family trying to stop me race, for my own health.
Having said that, maybe the person with 1 arm is just in experienced hence the crashes. You have to give him some credit for even attempting to drive a kart. How many of us able people could drive a kart for 8mins safely just using 1 arm?
It also comes down to the fact other competitors know hes disabled and think about being careful due to his disability whilst being near him on track? It takes 2 to tango as they say.
