NJB..... the TERM 'loading' may be new but NOT the concept....... by ANY means...... unless you think the 1960s count as 'new'!
Those of us who raced McCullochs back in the 1960s managed to SHOVE other karts into the first corner quite as well the modern Rotax boys can. We just didn't call it 'loading'.
In 100 National, this was the STANDARD method of entering the first corner IF you were NOT on pole and your motor was anything like decent. Chris Dagless was the MASTER of it in my day!
I even did it in 125 Gbox...... I have done it in Prokarts, too.
I can list LOADS of other examples but I don't think I need to.
What is it that's 'NEW' about this 'loading' as a technique...... (not the use of a 'cool' word to describe it)..... in your view? I am beginning to think I am missing something here..... but I am not. Well... from David's description and your confirmation of the 'term', it's EXACTLY what I thought it was..... being a VERY old 'friend' of mine under a newer name.
