Make your life easier for your first race. Make a check list of what you need to take.... and check it before you leave. Read the regulations and NOTE DOWN the times (opening and closing of scrutineering, for example). Make sure you have done EVERYTHING well before the required time. Get to the scrutineering AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.... if they require you to modify something, you will have TIME.... probably!
Remember, it's supposed to be FUN...... and it will be.... if you let it!
Take a photo/video from the driver's view on the dummy grid so you can remember what it all felt and looked like when you are 'old and grey'. It does make a great memory!
Don't try to WIN the first heat..... just try to FINISH without going for any glory!
The heats don't COUNT except for setting your starting grid position in the final. If you get 3 (2) finishes in the heats... you really WILL be ahead of others on the final: some simply won't have finished all their heats (assuming your club allows novices to get the grid they 'earned' as some clubs do).
Good luck!
