Of course it was 'karting snobbery'!
I have yet to meet a CAR racer (who was not ex-karting) who has the REACTIONS needed to race a kart without ba LENGTHY acclimitaisation period!
Cars a long and SLOW, ponderous MONSTERS with vastly to much weight, too little grip (until you get into larger-winged or ground-effect cars) and their 'polar moment' is simply a JOKE compared to karts! My Caterhams and Elises are counted by car drivers/racers as having 'snappy' handling...... compared to the karts...... need I complete that.....?
Watch a kart 'snap' into oversteer and the driver will have caught it BEFORE he is aware of the change..... in a car, you can start to slide, light a fag, brew some tea, read the newpaper and THEN apply opposite lock and you still have a hope of catching the slide.
The handling and reactions required to races karts compared cars is like the comparison of cars to COACHES!
Why WOULDN'T I feel 'kart-snobbish'???
