And exactly WHAT happens if:-
1) The kart vibrates off, falls off or is DRAGGED of the 4x4?....... You will have released a 250cc kart, in-gear into the REST of the paddock/dummy-grid. Luckily it would be COMPLETELY impossible for the throttle be be stuck open...... even a FRACTION..... I mean, that NEVER happens....... does it......
Those of us who HAVE watched a free running, 'empty', jammed throttle kart run INTO the pit/paddock (at Rye House in the 1970s) can TELL you EXACTLY what happens..... as would those people IN the pit who ended up IN HOSPITAL......
.... they were NOT impressed, EITHER!
2) What happens if the 'puller' has wrapped the rope round his hand ('to get a better grip....') and the engine starts...... and rope accidentally gets caught in the axle.....
Just think THAT one through........ and then try to imagine trying to RESIST the pull of a TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY CC MOTOR trying to wind you IN!!! Now think about it with the throttle even FRACTIONALLY open.......
The reality is that you MAY get away with it 499 times out of 500...... but sh*t happens and one day, without ANY doubt, one of the above WILL happen........ and the results are PERMANENT!
If you MUST do it.... you need to think about SAFETY.....
1) do NOT wrap the rope/strap round your hand.... EVER! If you are just hodling the free-end in your hand, you MIGHT be able to LET GO..... in an emergency.... 2) Do NOT have loads of rope 'spare' so that it CANNOT get caught around any part of you. 3) Use a STRAP (e.g., old seat belt) rather than a rope as that is LESS likely to 'roll off'; the tyre and get caught. 4) Make C*E*R*T*A*I*N that you have CHECKED the throttle is NOT open, even a FRACTION. 5) Youy MUST, as a MINIMUM, you have ONE person holding the brake pedal and ideally, an ignition cut out! Ideally, have TWO people.... one of them holding the kart DOWN at the rear.
Even then..... it borders on assisted suicide of euthenasia......!
