Not yet..... however, do you have experience of ANYONE losing a finger while racing SINCE the 'engine side' chain guards were fitted? I don't!
I speak as a man who HAS had a finger get caught IN a chain and be run-round a sprocket (ring finger, right hand). Would ANY sort of chain guard have protected me? NO...! I had my hand on the underside of a chain while refitting it on a stand when a friend, absent mindedly, on the other side of the kart, spun the rear wheel (he didn't know my hand was on the chain!)!
I can tell you.... it HURTS!
It seems to me that the current chain guard is there to protect you when the kart is NOT racing but while on the stand etc. However, that's BONKERS as, if we are working in that area, the chances are we will have REMOVED the chain guard to work ON that area!
I can't HOW you could get you finger INTO that area WHILE driving unless you WANTED to lose a finger!
